Many photographers worry they’ll come across as pushy or inauthentic — especially when they’re trying to encourage clients to invest beyond the digital files. But here’s the truth: Selling doesn’t have to feel “salesy.” In fact, it shouldn’t. Authentic sales are about connection, not persuasion. About guiding, not guilting. Here’s what that might look in practice: Not: “You need this album or you’ll regret it.” Instead: “Most of my couples say they’re so glad to have something tangible from the day. To View More >>

Queensberry only sell to approved professional photographers and album designers. However we do get lots of enquiries from people wanting their own album, often to celebrate a wedding, reunion, new babe, family photo shoot or travel adventure. We'd like to help you if we can, so here are two ways to order a Queensberry album if you're not a professional photographer.  Talk to your photographer If the photos you want to use were taken by a professional photographer we can only use them if your photographer places the order on your behalf or with the photographer's written permission. I'm going to be a bit pushy here. Our series on selling albums talks about:  — setting expectations — making it clear you sell them, and why! — making it easy for your clients to buy — not coming across as "pushy or sales-y" etc. I think that's good, sensible stuff — I helped write them, so there's that! — but let's face it, they lack something: ambition. Sales-ambitious or sales-shy? Portrait and wedding photographers come in all shapes and sizes, attitudes and ambitions, but one of the most important things that define them is surely their attitude to To View More >>

I've just finished re-watching Barry Schwartz's Ted Talk on The Paradox of Choice. He makes this very important point: Too much choice produces paralysis. Offer people too much choice and they'll find it very difficult to choose at all. Yes, at Queensberry we offer a lot of choice! We know that. We do it because every photographer is different. And we agree, as Barry Schwartz says, that it can be difficult to get your head around. But … if you want to sell products, you need to make the effort, not leave it to your customers.  As our designer friend Donna says, to run a design To View More >>

How to talk about products? In a nutshell, in your own voice, with conviction! Let's start by saying there are three aspects to this: Talking about products. Sharing about products. Believing in products. Talking  about products We'll be brief because we've covered this in a separate article, about how to sell more without being  "pushy" or "sales-y". Photographers who  love  selling probably don't need our help, so it's addressed mainly to those who're shy about it — which is possibly most of us. In that article we discuss how to build "talking about products" into To View More >>

A personal website for your clients, with your photography, your client's album design, a gift registry, a guest book, a link to your own site… oh, and a shopping cart!  In just a few minutes you can create a beautiful-looking site that your clients will find appealing and useful, that provides a convenient way to interact with them about their album, and that helps spread the word about you, while encouraging some nice add-on sales from friends and family.  Workspace has three new and improved designs that reflect our web themes, are mobile responsive, and are just as easy To View More >>

The sole purpose of our Favourites feature is to make your job as a photographer easier. Your clients select their favourite images by clicking the Workspace heart while hovering over an image. (On mobile you can reveal the Favourite button by tapping an image to view it full screen.)  Your clients can review their Favourites by clicking the Heart icon at the top right of the screen. You can view them too, in the backend of Workspace, and use them, for example, to order prints, or other products you offer, or to design an album. To View More >>

"I love a little quirk from time to time - something different for the soul — to keep things fresh, to keep the spark alive and to fuel my passion for wedding photography…” Maybe that explains why Jonny Harper did such an incredible job of capturing Tanaya and Mathew's wedding. I was so excited to discover their album coming through the Bindery. Working on this blog post was a lot of fun, with rabbits hidden in the bushes, incredible walls of art and so much more… Tanaya is  a set designer, Matthew a base player for his London based jazz band. Last week we shipped the very first real live order for our new medium-weight lay-flat Q Books. Not a prototype, not a concept drawing or trial album, but our very first, real live order. These lay-flats were just a part of our 2015 launch, our biggest in years, with new cover materials, new panoramic flushmounts and much more. We showed them first at WPPI and SWPP, but despite our own excitement and the enthusiastic response, we’ve resisted shipping the lay-flats until now. Why? To make them perfect they needed a little extra love, so we went back to the drawing board. The last To View More >>
